Hi, I am Yuwen Sun, originally from Beijing, China. I am so excited that I can talk about the food in this English course, because everyone knows there are all kinds of fascinating food in China, and I would love to introduce them. Also I think OSU students also love Chinese food, since I can easily find more than five Chinese restaurants along the North High Street, and some school cafeterias provide Chinese food, too.
I want to say something about my favorite meal,
This kind of food was originally from Guangdong Province in southern China and Hong Kong. It was create for breakfast, so based on its cradle and its particularly eating period, people named it Cantonese Morning Tea. I love this kind of food because there are various dim sums I can choose, and those are delicious. But I have my own favorite dim sum among all these food: it is Shrimp Dumpling. The Shrimp Dumpling contains a fresh shrimp with other seven different ingredients, which make this little round dumpling tastier. I remember the first I encounter this dish, three semitransparent and stuffed dumplings sit in a small bamboo steamer, the hot air rushed to come out while open the lid, the smell was good and attracting. It was the first day of a new year; all the family members got up early and went to have morning tea. I still miss that harmony atmosphere. After years, relatives went to different places for their own goals, and it is really hard for them to get together for a dinner, maybe only once at new year’s eve. I think making family get together to have a dinner was the purpose of creating this traditional food, and the tradition continues.

I agree with you on the purpose of creating traditional food. Snice we are far away from home and can only get back once or twice a year, it is more important for us to cherish the chance to get together with our family.
I strongly agree with you. Dim sum is pretty good both from looking and tasting. Actually I miss my hometown Chengdu, where I can have more than 100 choices only for the dessert. Fortunately, I will go back China right after the end of this quarter. I will soon have chance to eat all I want. So let's just cheer for the coming day when we all go back to China to have a feast!
I love the second picture for the shrimp dumpling which is also my favorite. It both tastes yummy and looks like crystal ( maybe that's why it's called crystal shrimp dumpling). In fact, I am regretting giving comments for our food blogs at night. I am really hungry again. I also like the details when you talked about the dumpling and the atmosphere for the family. I miss my family and my hometown's food sooooooooooooooo much. I am so glad that there are 2 months left. As you know, I was so happy to have this food topic as the end of my freshman year.
I love dim sum, but it is so hard to find it here in Columbus. I've never tried the shrimp dumpling, though. My favorites are the cakes with water chestnuts. I like how they're sweet and yet fresh-tasting at the same time.
I love dim sum, too. I used to have it when I was in Korea. But I haven't had dim sum here in Columbus. And I agree what Xuechen said. To international students, it is more important to get together with families.
